Like all great modern love stories, ours began… with a misclick.

Kelsey was scrolling through Plenty of Fish, probably judging bios with the intensity of a reality TV judge, when she accidentally clicked on a profile. That profile? Shawn’s. She thought, “Well, since I’m already here… why not?” Little did she know, that tiny slip of the finger would change her life.

Not long after, Shawn was behind the wheel of his massive Ford F-250, bravely navigating the roads to Clarion University to meet this curious girl who clicked on him by accident. Upon arrival, he gave Kelsey and her friends a show—attempting to park his truck no less than five times. Kelsey watched from a safe distance, equal parts amused and intrigued. (Spoiler alert: he did eventually park the truck.)

Their first "date" was brunch in the Clarion dining hall—with Kelsey’s friends, because subtlety is overrated. But somehow between the scrambled eggs and student IDs, something clicked. They talked. They laughed. And by the end of that day, it was clear—something real had started.

From that moment on, they were pretty much glued together (emotionally—although, with all the long-distance video calls, maybe digitally too). They clocked in hours of Skype chats, studied “together” across campuses, and made endless weekend road trips between IUP and Clarion.

Shawn stood by Kelsey through some of the hardest times of her life, always lifting her up with love and quiet strength. And together, they built something unshakable.

After graduation, they moved back home, kept the weekend visits going, and then—Disney entered the chat. Shawn got to go to Disney for a work training (yes, that’s a real thing), and naturally, Kelsey tagged along. That trip sparked a full-blown Disney obsession. From spontaneous theme park trips to celebrating both of their 30th birthdays with Mickey-shaped treats, it became their thing. (There was even talk of a Disney Cruise wedding… don’t tempt them.)

Now, almost 13 years, four degrees (3 of which are Kelsey's), countless miles, and a whole lot of love later—they’re finally tying the knot.

All because of a misclick.
